'Vitality' marks Capital Green A Cappella’s 7th studio release, launching this Friday, December 15th. It will showcase five tracks, encompassing their ICCA set from 2023 which delivered them into the semifinals, and one live track from their concert last spring. The production credits go to current member Justin Babbitt and external producer Justin Stacey. Notably, the live track was made possible by MSU alumni Daniel Dade.
The group recorded this EP in the aftermath of the violence on campus last February. During the tragic events, the group stood a mere two weeks away from performing at their ICCA quarterfinals. They grappled with the decision of whether or not to perform their set, but after extended deliberation, they resolved to forge ahead for the sake of the Spartan community and their personal journeys towards facing grief.
Their story evolved into one of strength, resilience, and triumph over adversity—an experience they felt compelled to share with the world in a time of immense collective healing.
The essence of their narrative underwent a profound transformation, prompting them to dedicate the EP to the eight victims of the Michigan State University shooting, with a very special tribute to Arielle, Alexandra, and Brian. This heartfelt dedication is reflected in their album art, as depicted below.
This project is a labor of love and a testament to Capital Green’s collective determination to transform adversity into art. Their hope is that as you listen, you not only enjoy the music but also feel like a part of their narrative—a story that encapsulates the strength of a community bound by harmony, compassion, and the unyielding power of music to heal and inspire.
Stream 'Vitality' and its accompanying music video on Friday, December 15th.
