Capital Green A Cappella Wins Their First CASA Award for ‘Beyond’

After nearly two years of work on their most recent release, Capital Green’s Music Video, Beyond, has received its flowers.
The Contemporary A Cappella Society, CASA for short, is a society that was formed “to create community between singers and fans of contemporary a cappella” which aims to fulfill the needs of a cappella groups of all ages—including granting special awards to outstanding artists.
The A Cappella Video Awards (AVA) are one of the annual events through CASA, recognizing music videos specifically, for their creativity, passion, and excellence. There are a few different categories for these awards like costume/makeup, live video performance, special effects, and more. Groups around the world can send in their video(s) in early fall to be considered for multiple categories.
This year Capital Green was nominated in the category of Outstanding Choreography/Staging, and was announced as the winner on February 15, 2026.
After a monumental year being the first group from Michigan State University to compete in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Finals in 2024, this special competition set has brought them tremendous success, accompanied with heart and pride. Beyond won awards in arrangement, choreography, and vocal percussion during its competition run for ICCA, placing first overall at both quarterfinals and semifinals, and its final live performance at The Town Hall Theatre in New York City. The music video and EP for Beyond was released on March 21, 2025.

Founded in 1998, Capital Green A Cappella is Michigan State University’s oldest competitive all-gender a cappella group. Specializing in both traditional and contemporary pop a cappella arrangements, Capital Green is proud to be the first group to represent Michigan State University at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Finals. In 2026, Capital Green aims to continue their strength, fulfillment and success in the upcoming ICCA season.
