Another Year As A Greener
This year marked a major milestone in Capital Green history as we celebrated our 10th year of bring ingthe sweet sounds of coed a cappella to Michigan State's campus. Although it may sound cliche to say, this year has been one of Capital Green's biggest years yet. Aside from the normal fall events such as tailgate singing and dorm gigging, we were busier than ever trying to finish our CD in time for our 10-Year Anniversary Concert that took place at the Fairchild Theatre. Performing for an audience of nearly 500 people, we sang some of our songs from this year as well as a few older songs with nearly 30 returning alumni members! Having so many people come and show their support for us was overwhelmingly encouraging, and gave us the motivation we needed to work hard for the rest of the year. Our hard work paid off when we competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella at the University of Michigan, where we Lolli'd it up and received first place and went on to compete at the semifinal round at Northwestern University in mid-March. In April, we participated in MSU's Relay for Life and were very honored when we were asked to sing at various times throughout the event, as well for the very somber Luminaria Ceremony. We closed out the year by visiting 9 area elementary, middle and high schools where we performed for the students and even taught some of them how to sing a little bit of our music! As this year draws to a close, we can only look back and wonder how we managed to fit so many things in all while keeping up with classes and finding plenty of time to spend with each other outside of rehearsal. This summer we'll be [hopefully] spending plenty of time soaking up the sun and relaxing before we start another crazy year. We couldn't have accomplished any of this without our friends and family who continue to love and support us throughout the year. We could not thank you guys enough for everything you have done for us!

Every year, April proves to be one of the busiest, yet most exciting months for Capital Green. This month, we have over eight free performances during the month of April, at various locations around MSU and the rest of the mid-michigan area. All these events are definitely keeping us busy, but also giving us great opportunities to promote our
2009 Spring Show coming up on May 3rd! Being that this date falls on the Sunday before Finals week here at MSU, we have decided to go with the theme "Study Break", hoping to give people a reason to procrastinate a little and come relax and listen to some sweet a cappella music before the stress that is finals week really sets in. Our show is being held at the Kellogg Center Auditorium (on MSU's campus) at 5pm on May 3rd. Tickets are $5 for Students and $10 for adults. You can find out more information by checking out the Facebook Event Page. We hope to see all you guys there!

Returning from a crazy-busy week chalked full of rehearsing and concluding with our group competing at the ICCA Midwest Quarterfinals held at the University of Michigan, Capital Green is estatic that all our hard work has paid off as we were received first place out of 8 other very talented a cappella groups! We were blown away by the other talent that we saw, and are looking forward to competing at the Midwest semifinal round in Chicago along with some very close friends of Capital Green, the Dicks & Janes from U of M.

We are proud to announce that we are back and ready for an awesome year! This year marks our 10th year of singing coed a cappella here at Michigan State University and we are more than excited to share that experience with all of our closest friends, family and fans...but before we can do any of that, we have 5-6 spots to fill from members who graduated this past spring. This means that we are looking for people just like YOU who like to sing, and have a blast doing it. Check out our audition page for more info.

Capital Green will be taking a faux-break until mid-August. Although we will not be performing for that time, we are spending countless hours in the studio in the push to get our first studio album released just in time for our 10-Year Anniversary concert around November. We look forward to performing again for you all in the fall! We will be having auditions the first or second week of school. Check back for more details when the time gets near.

We are looking forward to a fun, performance-packed month of April this year! Beginning with our Fundraiser at the local Mongolian Barbeque, we will be guest-grilling AND singing for the whole night! All money raised will go towards our Relay For Life team, benefiting the American Cancer Society. The next day, we will be opening the show for a local baseball team with the National Anthem, and staying afterwards to enjoy the game and [hopefully] the nice weather! Ending our three-day run of performances will be our appearance at an Invisible Children Benefit concert being held here on campus. More details on the exact time and location for this will be coming soon!
